Spring is just around the corner and that means that you’re probably starting to think about your summer vacation. I know I’ve certainly been hearing vacation rumblings around my office water cooler these days. Everyone seems to have a few ideas as to where they’d like to go and are trying to weigh the pros and cons of each before picking a final destination. But what if you don’t have the money to drop on a family vacation this summer? You’re probably not the only one in that boat. Believe it or not, most of the people around you planning their vacations probably don’t have the money to drop either, but they’re going to do it anyway. What if you don’t want to go into debt to go to the beach or go see a giant-eared mouse? You’ll be happy to know there is an inexpensive alternative. Why not try a family staycation this year?
O.M.G. It’s Friday. We made it! Hallelujah. As many of you already know, we like to kick back, prop our feet up, and take a load off at the end of the week. A nice cold one wouldn’t hurt, either.
In an effort to not let you guys (our most awesome readers) hangin’, we have compiled a superbly fun walk down pop culture memory lane for your Friday viewing pleasure!
Yep, that’s yours truly in the feature image using frugality to hack a damn good time. We love a dash of horror in our lives, so every fall we don’t miss a chance to hit our local haunted attraction. This is a planned event and since Mini is, well, Mini, we don’t bother with the actual hayride or haunted houses. Instead, we go for a Friday night dinner. We take $20 and load up on pizza, hot dogs, funnel cake, and hot chocolate. Yum! This place is a top-tier attraction so they have actors roaming the grounds, a nice picnic table area for resting and eating, live bands, and goofy stuff to do like the guillotine – for FREE! Makes for a great photo op, right? It’s planned, it’s inexpensive (I don’t like the word cheap), it’s fun, and we get to make some memories and snap some pictures. But this isn’t our only frugal hack for living an awesome life on less. Read on my frugal friends.
It’s Friday! It’s Friday! That means we get to share some of our favorite financial posts that we found on the interconnected World Wide Web. And here it is, the best of the best, the coolest of the cool, the posts we found share-worthy. Enjoy!
Baby, it’s cold outside! Yeah yeah, I know the holiday season is over but I can’t seem to stop that song from playing on repeat in my head. I actually had a point by starting out with that line – it IS cold outside – at least in the northeast where Mr. MMM and I reside. I’d like to take this opportunity to share with our readers all about how we date for free. Yes, we are married, but this stuff works for just about anyone who isn’t just starting out. I accept this caveat because there are certain unwritten (I’m sure they’re written somewhere) rituals that span the globe, and state that resources, better known as money in most parts of the world, must be blown on initial dates with a potential long-term partner. It is what it is and there are very strong biological processes that have conditions humans that way. But that’s not a topic we are not going to delve into here on Mad Money Monster. Here, we’re going to focus on how to have awesome dates with your partner for FREE. Yes, Free.
