Last weekend I was on my own with Mini and we decided to have a great day for zero dollars. Nothing unusual so far, right? Read on my fellow frugal followers…
Yes we did! Like I mentioned in earlier posts, Mr. MMM has done really well with contracted work this year. We have paid off all but one debt, invested a huge chunk of change, and spent only on things we value (think: our home renovation!). We also decided this was the year we should make the pilgrimage to Disney. So, although this is not a blog post about how frugal our Disney trip was – being frugal and financially responsible helped us be not so frugal when taking our once-in-a-lifetime trip to The Happiest Place on Earth.
This is a story of how I turned my lower back pain into precious mommy and me time. And, go! For years, I have experienced lower back pain. I don’t quite know the reason. It does, however, seem to get better when I am working out on a regular basis. Unfortunately, since winter hit, I have not been engaging in routine exercise. And…cue the lower back pain.
As I was scouring the internet this week reading other financial blogs, I was excited to come across This One by our friends at How To Stuff Your Pig. It’s all about financial gift giving for children. I was amazed that the very first suggestion is the EXACT one we will be doing for Mini Monster this holiday season. This got me to thinking. I was a single parent for many years and I have always worked very hard to teach Mini the value of a dollar. She knows that, second to love, money makes the world go ’round.
Our Friday night routine used to consist of play dates (we’re parents) at various, local venues such as the roller skating rink, the bounce house, or Chuck E. Cheese (oh, the horror). Along with that went, a trip to Pizza Hut, Isaac’s, or dare I say it, McDonald’s. This seemed necessary to us only a few short months ago. Silly us. These days, we have our frugal antennas up. Way up. We are now opting for house play dates and frozen pizza!
